UK water regulator finds Severn Trent unit breached wastewater obligations
Oct 16 (Reuters) British regulator Ofwat said on Friday that it had found Hafren Dyfrdwy, a unit of Water utility Severn Trent, in breach of its legal obligations over failures in the management of wastewater and sewage services. • The water regulator s investigation found that Hafren Dyfrdwy failed to adequately provide drainage services and manage the contents of its sewer network, breaching its statutory duties • Ofwat also found the company had previously breached licence requirements by failing to maintain adequate processes and systems, although it has since put those measures in place • The company has proposed an enforcement package worth £280,000 ($372,652), which Ofwat has provisionally agreed to accept • The enforcement package will be funded by the company and its shareholders, rather than customers, and must be delivered by 2030 ($1 = 0.7514 pounds) (Reporting by Nithyashree R B in Bengaluru; Editing by Sherry Jacob-Phillips)
